Die Denkbar Frankfurt gestaltet wieder einen Abend Indischer Klassik mit Tanz, Gesang, Tabla und Sitar.
Die Gäste kommen aus Colkatta und bestreiten die letzte „Performances“ ihrer Deutschlandtournee hervorragender Weise bei uns in der Spohrstrasse. Perfekt!
Diesmal sind zu Gast sind die Sängerin Sudokshina Manna, Subrata Manna (Tabla) und die Kathaktänzerin Sohini. Die Künstler waren bereits mehrmals in Europa und gehören allesamt zur alten Tradition von ind. Klassik und der damit verbundenen Meister Schüler Überlieferung.

(Sudokshina Manna)
Sudokshina started formally learning Hindusthani classical vocal at the tender age of 6.She was under the tutelage of Sri Sachin Basu and Sri Biresh Roy of Kirana gharana. What groomed her into a perfect singer is her sixteen years of intense training under Vidushi Sanjukta Ghosh of Kasur-Patiala gharana
Sudokshina acquired her graduation in English Literature from Calcutta University after which she completed her Master degree in Music securing first class & 2nd rank from Rabindra Bharati University Kolkata.Currently she is doing her Phd from the same University.At present Sudokshina is a part time lecturer of Hinudsthani music in a reputed college of Kolkata. She also is credited with a number of workshops and lecture demonstrations within India and overseas.
Sudokshina got special recognition when she received National Scholarship from the Indian Ministry of Human Resource development in the year 1998. Besides her musical career has been studded with prizes from renowned institutions and organizations.In the year 2008 Sudokshina was nominated for the Sangeet Natak Academy Yuva Award in the field of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music.
Apart from performing in various parts of India Sudokshina had extensively toured in England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden,Holland,Belgium and other European Countries. She also visits middle east countries like Kuwait and Dubai for performances.She got the rare opportunity of performing in the Tagore Auditorium of Indian Embassy of Berlin, as well as in Nehru Centre, the Indian Embassy auditorium of London.She has also the rare experience of working with Open University Milton Kyeans,Durham University U.K for their research work.

(Subrata Manna)
A disciple of great Tabla maestro none other than Pandit Shankar Ghosh Subrata took initial training from late Sri Sunil Bhattacharya of Benaras gharana at the age of eight.Subrata also has been receiving training of Karnatic tala system under the guidance of eminent Miridangam maestro Pandit S.Sekhar.
Subrata is an M.A in Percussion music from Rabindra Bhararti University, Kolkata. He is an ‘A’ grade artist of All Radio and Television. He has been playing all over in India and abroad in many prestigious concerts and conferences and festivals successfully.Subrata has played almost in all the major music conferences in Kolkata and played in many other prestigious music conferences in different parts of India.
Subrata has toured successfully in U.S.A ,U.K and many European countries like Germany,France,Italy,Belgium,Denmark,Sweden,Switzerland,Holland and many Middle East countries Like Kuwait,Dubai and in Martinique in Caribbean Island.He had also represented govt.of India to perform different international music festival in Mexico,Canada,Iraq and Jordon organized by I.C.C.R. He has to his credit several audio cds releasing from different companies which are available in the market. Subrata had lead a team of vocalist and Kathak dancer and a Sitar player to represent Hinduism through North Indian classical music in of one of most prestigious International festivals called ‘MUSICASACRA’ and in south of Germany and Eigenarten Festival, Germany.

(Sohini)
Sohini was initiated into Kathak at the early age of three years. She has been under the able guidance of renowned Kathak exponent and Guru Smt. Rani Karnaa (Nayak).
She has also received primary training in Odissi and Hindustani Classical Music. A graduate in Geography from Presidency Co lle ge, Kol kat a s he c omplete d her maste r’s degree in Kathak from Rabindra Bharati University.
A Grade-A solo artiste with the Doordarshan Kendra, Sohini has won numerous awards including Gold Medals at the Doverlane Music Conference, State Music Academy and the Governors Gold Medal at the East Zonal Competition organized by EZCC.
She is the recipient of the National Scholarship for Dance from the Govt. of India and is empanelled with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations; ICCR, New Delhi and Sangeet Natak Akademi , New Delhi.
She has also been invited by EZCC, Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal , ICCR. Sohini regularly tours different parts of Europe; Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland for solo Kathak performances. Recently she represented her Country as a Cultural Ambassador at the Musica Sacra International Festival, 2014, Marktoberdorf, Germany.
She performed across India as a solo dancer and also with her Guru Smt Rani Karnaa participating for numerous institutions/organizations and festivals.
She is a repertory member of ‘RANAN’; Kolkata& performs regularly for its Dance and Dance-Theatre presentations . Presently Sohini is Secretary and Creative Head of Samskritiki Shreyaskar, Guru Rani Karnaa’ s Kat hak Ac a demy and conducts regular classes.
She has been conducting Kathak Workshop and Lecture Demonstrations at the invitation of different organizations – Bangalor

(Bernhard Faltermeier)
Bernhard Faltermeier studierte Sitar in Colcutta und New Delhi von 1983 bis1989 und erhielt dort die musikalische Qualifikation Sangeet Visharad (Bachelor of Music).Während seines Aufenthalts in Indien lernte Bernhard Faltermeier Sitar von verschiedenen weiblichen und männlichen Sitar-Meistern.
Glückliche Umstände brachten in schließlich mit dem inzwischen verstorbenen Sree Dhyanesh Khan aus Colcutta zusammen der damals Direktor am Ali Akbar Khan College of Music, des Instituts seines Vaters, war. Einer in Indien und im Ausland berühmten und hochangesehenen Schule. Sree Dhyanesh Khan wurde für Bernhard Faltermeier zur zentralen Person und zum ständigen Begleiter auf seinem weiteren musikalischen Weg. Während seines Studiums beschäftigte er sich mit dem alten griechischen Musik System des Pythagoras aber auch mit anderen östlichen Musiksystemen.
Die tiefere Philosophie dieser Musik veränderte ihn und sein ganzes Weltbild grundlegend und begleitet ihn bis heute. Er erkannte daß alle Kulturen der Welt im Grunde musikalisch zusammenhängen. Daraufhin begann er Projekte mit verschiedenen Bands, Theatermusik und Workshops mit Musikern aus der ganzen Welt.
Seit 1990 ist er auf vielen Bühnen in Europa vertreten, zum Beispiel mit der Theater-Musikbegleitung für Hermann Hesses „Siddhartha“ und „Der Prophet“ von Kalil Gibran vom Bernhard Theater Zürich und dem Scala Theater Basel. Sie gastierten u. a. in der Stadthalle Heidelberg, Heidelberger Schloß, Bahnhof Baden-Baden, Konzil zu Konstanz, Zehntscheuer Schwäbisch-Hall, Ökohaus Frankfurt, Büsing Palais Offenbach etc.
Studiomusiker bei verschiedensten Projekten von Klassik über Ethno, Eastern Electroniks bis Rock.
2002 wurde er Mitglied bei der Band „Cosmic Orient“ mit denen er durch Europa tourte, sie waren u.a. zu Gast im Stellwerk in Berlin, auf dem Asia Festival in Barcelona, in der Kunsthalle Schirn in Frankfurt und auf dem Museumsuferfest in Frankfurt. 2006 produzierte die Band ihre erste CD „Cosmic Orient 1“.
Parallel spielte er weiterhin mit seiner ersten Formation „Shiva Force“ (East-West con-Fusion) im Genre des Asian Underground in diversen Clubs in Frankfurt und Umgebung.
Solo-Projekte:
Musik-Begleitung bei Lesungen z. B. „Das Beben“ mit Martin Mosebach, szenische Lesung von Tagore mit Sylvia Raabe, Theater Gerlich-Raabe.
Seit 2009 besteht eine intensive Zusammenarbeit mit dem Autor Cyril Moog.
Dessen Buch „META_MORPHOSIS“ führte zu einem gemeinsamen Multi-Media Projekt im Stile eines Event-Trailers das bei diversen Anlässen und Lesungen des Autors mit Live Musik von Bernhard Faltermeier aufgeführt wurde und beim diesjährigen Cosmic-Cine-Festival nominiert ist.
Die CD/DVD „META_MORPHOSIS“ steht kurz vor der Fertigstellung.
